Lubaan is the Somali & Arabic term for Frankincense. Our luxurious resins come from Puntland, Northeastern Somalia.
Frankincense comes from the Old French word, "franc encens," meaning high quality incense.
Frankincense is a hard gum like material that comes from the Boswellia tree (trunk). This gum like material is called resin. Frankincense can be turned into an oil, a powder and it can be burnt for incense. Also, it's edible and can be used as natural chewing gum.
According to ancient tradition, Puntland was historically known as the Land of Punt, an ancient civilisation that primarily traded Frankincense with the Ancient Egyptians.
